Therapists are trained mental health professionals with the goal of treating mental illness. We know that mental health is a spectrum. Some people have more severe areas whereas others are experiencing moderate or mild symptoms of mental health issues.
Coaches build mental fitness
Coaching focuses on helping people shift their behaviors, take new actions, and build new techniques that can carry them forward and closer to their goals.
Coaches can support individuals that are currently in therapy or may have had it before.
For many young people who are struggling emotionally and socially, Coaching can be a great intervention for them as it is positive and proactive. This can give them an instant boost to their levels of wellbeing, which helps them feel like the intervention is being helpful immediately.
Counselling is about the past and dealing with how that shows up in the present.
Coaching is about the future and how you can move yourself from where you are now to where you want to be.
